Fine Antique Dhokra, Bastar Ritual Offering Basket Vessel, from west Bengal. This example is only mid 20thC but still a great object. These are apparently used on roadside shrines/altars for offerings, then disregarded when they have lost their power. From a recent collection. This may look better with a wax, just ask if you would like it done. I have books for sale on this group of people, check out the book section. Dhokra Brass work is a craft form of Harappa & Mohenjodaro Civilization. Bastar Dokra is made using 16 intricate steps without making use of any moulds, thereby each product being a master piece in itself.
