An Extremely Rare Monumental, Burmese Temple Buddha of unbelievable quality. Amarapura Buddha, North Myanmar 18thC. Hand carved from solid wood then lacquered in black and finally gilded with 22ct gold leaf. The Buddha is presented seated on a high double lotus throne with iron shackle points so that the sculpture could be secured while it was processioned. The chest is adorned with a crossed garland which is reminiscent of the one worn by the Mahamuni Buddha Nr Mrauk U in Rakhine State North Western Burma. This sculpture has been in a private collection for many years and not recently stolen from its country of origin. A rare top quality investment sculpture.
