Documented Sculpture, MYANMAR BUDDHA, The Image and its History,, By Somkiart Lepetcharat. Page 308.
An Extremely Rare Monumental, Burmese Temple Buddha of unbelievable quality. Arakan, MYOUK-U 18thC. Hand carved from solid wood then lacquered in black and finally gilded with 22ct gold leaf. The Buddha is presented seated on a high double lotus throne with iron shackle points so that the sculpture could be secured while it was processioned. The chest is adorned with a crossed garland which is reminiscent of the one worn by the Mahamuni Buddha Nr Mrauk U in Rakhine State North Western Burma. This sculpture has been in a private collection for many years and not recently stolen from its country of origin. A rare top quality investment sculpture.
