Very Rare Early Burmese Stucco Buddhist Monks Head, originally dating from around 11th-16thC, but constantly rebuilt due to earthquake damage etc. Pieces like this would have once adorned the inner room of a family Pagoda. Unfortunately 1000s of these monuments have long gone due to destruction by neglect and earthquake. Some tiny traces of paint remain as do the shell and glass mirror eyes. Mounted for display on a purpose made stand. We might undertake some retouching of pigment to the repaired sections as in the photographs.
