A ‘Balbal’ Anthropomorphic Figure ‘These extraordinary Turkic figures are associated with Steppe burials across Eurasia. Often placed on top of or around kurgans to honour the deceased in a posture of ritual libation, with one hand holding a drinking cup or horn and the other resting on a bladed weapon. This example has a well defined face and the diminutive arms typical of such figures and was hand carved from a white hard stone.. The arms appear to be crossed in front of the chest but it is difficult to determine further details. Great talking point in any interior project.
