[we have just been told it is dated 1444 and it has connections to Jain] Rare 13thC Gujarat Hero Stone, Limestone/Marble Plaque/Stele. They are often worshiped. These are known as Khambhi or Paliya. These were erected in memories of people who fell fighting for a good cause. From an old UK collection. This example has been cut at some time [as it would have stood up to 4 foot tall], below the lines of script to allow better display. Further investigation on the internet will reveal a lot more info. Pictures show other examples and more interesting reading.
