Large Early 19thC Brass Sculpture of Khandoba (avatar Of Shiva) On His Horse. Cast in Three Pieces as in Pictures. Khandoba is essentially Lord Shiva’s avatar or form. Lord Khandoba is well-known among Vaishnavas as well as Jain traditions. Most likely cast in, Jejuri in Maharashtra as this tends to be the centre of this worrior deitys worship. An interesting fact is [Kand] is a sword, so a fitting name for this deity. A nice sculpture that has been polished and loved over the years, the original patination and colour on the reverse is very good.
