Rare Burmese Shan (Tai-Yai) 18thC Gilt Bronze narrative votive sculpture. Buddha Shakyamuni in a House of Jewels at Bodhgaya in the deer park during the enlightenment process, the prospective Buddha meditated in a “house of jewels, which was prepared by the Gods for him. These come in sets and each one represents an aspect of the, Life of Buddha. Some damage as expected. This sculpture has good burial patination of verdigris and dirt. These were originally placed in relic chambers within a pagoda along with amulets as votive offerings. Bought as part of a large old Belgian collection which we will be offering for sale.We have mounted this example on a stand for better display.
