Late 19thC Thai Rattanakosin Bronze Prince Ramakien Pointing. Has been polished over the years. There is a single line of inscription on the base. From UK collection.
In the Thai epic Ramakien, “pointing” typically refers to the tragic antagonist Nonthok. Granted a magic diamond index finger by the gods that could slay anyone he pointed at, he went on a killing spree. The god Vishnu (Phra Narai) tricked him into pointing the finger at his own thigh, leading to his demise.
In Thailand he is known as Thao Wessuwan and they have temples dedicated to his worship.
