Lovely Early 19thC Burmese Wooden Buddha Sculpture, This sculpture was originally placed in a family pagoda in Burma and this is where the old termite damage has occurred. The sculpture is hand carved from hardwood then covered in lacquer and fine lacquer detail [the robes] and then gold leaf. Often when visiting the pagoda family members would fix thin sections of gold leaf to the sculpture. The poise and calmness of this sculpture is so good. A lovely antique sculpture which has been mounted on a wooden plinth for display. Great Interior Design item and a fine investment piece as this market is rising very well.
